Differential equation fault location algorithm with harmonic effects in power system

About 80% of faults in the power system distribution are earth faults. Studies to find effective methods identify and locate networks still relevant, addition presence harmonic signals that distort waves create deviations can cause many problems protection relay. This study focuses on a single line-to-ground (SLG) fault location algorithm network based fundamental frequency measured using differential equation method. The developed considers harmonics components simulation network. In this study, several filters were tested obtain lowest error reduce effect algorithm. model is simulated alternate transients program (ATP)Draw program. Several scenarios have been implemented during simulation, such as resistance, distance, inception angle. final results show proposed estimate distance successfully with an acceptable error. Based results, continuous wavelet technique (CWT) filter-based produced accurate result mean average (MAE) less than 5%.
